ReminderText  teamyell
A sample roster text   Organising people & events

Text messages are short messages sent to mobile phones (aka cell phones). This process is as known as "texting". You will also sometimes see it referred to as SMS which stands for Short Message Service.

In teamyell, text reminders are sent to mobile phones when:
  • An event has "Send text reminders" set to say "1 hour before" (anything except "No")
  • There are people rostered onto the event
  • Some of those people have a mobile phone number specified in their profile
  • Some of those people have "Text reminders" set to Yes in their profile
  • The group has enough money in its account to pay for the text message. View the balance here.
When text messages are sent, they look like this:

teamyell reminder re a practice on 3Apr08 7:30pm. Address: Field 3, 112 Forest Hill Rd, Milford, Auckland. Notes: Playing Hamilton Steel

Text messages can be at most 160 characters long. If the physical address or notes associated with the event are long, they will be truncated. In this case the text message reads:

teamyell reminder re a practice on 3Apr08 7:30pm. Address: Field 3, 112 Forest Hill Rd, Milford, Auckland. Notes: We will meet in the carpark as our normal meet<more>
