About the teamyell staff   Organising people & events

The founder of teamyell, Philip Quirke, knows about voluntary groups. He has had a long association with voluntary organisations.

"The importance of sports teams, clubs, etc is often understated. They provide a framework inside which people can enjoy themselves and grow. It's particularly important for our youth who need positive outlets for their energy and enthusiasm."

He also knows some of the problems facing voluntary groups from personal experience:

"Life is busy and it seems to be getting more so. But I strive to make time for the groups I am committed to, because I think they are worthwhile.

Communicating with a spread-out group of people, and keeping them up to date on what is happening and where and when is a challenge at times. Organising people to be at an event can be like herding cats sometimes.

And many of the challenges facing different groups are the same: It's about people and events and rosters and communicating. Making information freely available to people so they can access it whenever they want to, saves me time and phone calls.

teamyell is a tool to help groups manage themselves. It works for me and my group. It solves some of my problems and gives me back some of my time.

In an increasingly busy world, people are time poor. Voluntary organisations need our support. teamyell offers them some support - for free!"

As well as being a Director of teamyell since 2008, Philip Quirke is currently Manager Business Analysis Practice at Fonterra Co-operative Limited (www.fonterra.com). Previously he was General Manager of Information Systems at Woosh Wireless Limited (www.woosh.com). He was on the board of trustees of the local primary school for 7 years (5 years as Chair). He is an Elder in his local church. He also runs a chauffeur service to the groups his kids attend.
