What you show the world
Organising people & events
team
yell
allows your team to have a public web site (called a Portal) telling the world about you.
Each field of the "portal - settings" page is described below:
Show a public Portal
:
Groups that want the general public to know what they are doing, often want a public web site. Groups can use a public web site to promote themselves and attract new members.
Your group controls what information is shown on the public web site. But whatever information is included in the public web site can be viewed by anyone in the world.
If you change this setting to No, your website's set-up will not be lost. We store it in case you change your mind later.
Your Portal short name
:
Teams state their
long
name on the member page "other - group" page.
E.g. This might be "South Auckland Tigers Soccer".
But for a public web site, your team needs a
short
name.
It needs to be short and preferably easy to spell. It can't contain any spaces or punctuation.
E.g. This might be "AucklandTigers".
The address of the Portal will be based on this short name.
E.g. In the above example it is www.teamyell.com/AucklandTigers
This field is required.

List your portal in directory

To help the general public find your group,

yell
can list your portal in a directory of
team
yell
portals.
This also helps other groups, like yours, who are considering using
team
yell
. It allows them to see how people use it.
