Help on event types		Organising people & events

Most groups have different kinds of events (e.g. a football club will have practices & games etc). teamyell uses "Event Types" to label the different events. A group can add and delete event types via the member page "event - types" page.

You can use the 'Edit' and 'Delete' links to change an existing event type. The 'Add' link adds a new event type as a child of the existing event type. You can also change the parent of a event type by dragging the event type and dropping it on top of the new parent event type. Each field is described below:

• Name:
  The name of the Event Type. This is the most important field. This name will appear on the event calendar, rosters, emails, etc. The name needs to be short. The name can be at most 20 characters long. This field is required.
   
• Color:
  The color that events of this type are drawn on the event calendar. This field is required.
   
• Roles:
  When you look at an event roster, there are a series of columns each with headings. These headings (also known as event roles) help define who is doing what job at each event. For example, a "meeting" event might have roles:
      Organiser, Speaker, Attendee.
  Try to keep the role names short. Say around 12 characters.
  
  TIP: If you have a large number of people in one of roles, repeat the role name. For example:
      Organiser, Speaker, Attendee, Attendee, Attendee.
  This helps when you roster a large number of people onto that role.
   
• Events:
  This field shows the number of events using this event type. You can't delete an event type that is used on events.
