Importing events from a spreadsheet		Organising people & events

When creating a group it may be useful to import a list of events from a spreadsheet.
The spreadsheet must be in a specific format. A sample spreadsheet is shown below and can be downloaded here.


Some notes about the spreadsheet:

• Worksheet Name:
  The worksheet name must be "Events".
  In the above image, the worksheet name is shown in the bottom left-hand corner.
   
• Column Headings:
  The first row in the "Events" worksheet must be the Column Headings.
  The order of the Column Headings is not important.
  The case of the Column Headings is not important (so StartDate is the same as STARTDATE).
   
• StartDate:
  This column contains start date of the event. This column must exist.
  Only rows where the 'StartDate' value is a valid date will be imported.
   
• Other Columns:
  All the other columns are optional - they don't have to exist and if they do exist, they can contain blank cells.
  The supported columns are: StartTime, EndDate, EndTime, Title, Type, Notes, Address, Outcome, PointsFor & PointsAgainst.

• Existing Events:
  Before importing a row, teamyell checks to see whether the event already exists. If teamyell finds an existing event with the same 'StartDate', 'StartTime' and 'Type' values then the row is not imported. This means that if the same spreadsheet is imported twice by mistake, the second time no new events will be added.
   
• Defaults:
  If the 'EndDate' value is not specified, then the 'EndDate' is set to the 'StartDate'.
  If the 'EndTime' value is not specified, then the 'EndTime' set to 1 hour after the 'StartTime'.
  If the 'Type' is not specified or is not valid, then the type 'Other' is used.
  If the 'Outcome' is not specified or is not valid, then the outcome 'Unknown' is used.
  If the 'PointsFor' is not a valid number, then the value is ignored.
  If the 'PointsAgainst' is not a valid number, then the value is ignored.
